Fuck Yeah Feminist Thor.
Feminist Thor should totally be a thing.
First reaction: My mancrush on Thor just got so much worse right now.
Second reaction: Wait, Asgard has politicians?

Being Shy Is Just a Bad Habit, and You Can Break It With Regular Practice
False, Lifehacker. False. Most of the commenters said it for me.
(via lookoutsideyourself)
Yeah, I used to be VERY shy (still am sort of but not nearly as much) and it was never about being uncomfortable with myself. It was about being uncomfortable with other people. I’d think that would be obvious.
It’s not quite a bad habit either; I’d say it’s really more akin to an anxiety disorder than a bad habit. It IS something you can break with practice (I have done it) but there’s kind of a chicken-and-egg problem there: did I become less shy because I was socializing more, or was I socializing more because I was becoming less shy?

Is it bad that it always makes me laugh to see Spell Check underline “misandry” and “misandrist”?
Apparently it really don exists?
I’m partially tempted to read Fifty Shades of Grey.
I’m not sure if I hate myself enough to do so…
From what I’ve heard it’s more bleh than really awful. So, not entertaining enough to bother with.
also the whole ‘you don’t look sicillian/american’ thing reminds me of this oratory one girl gave about how we equate being educated with whiteness and being uneducated with blackness and how people will tell her all the time ‘oh, when i hear your voice you don’t sound like a black woman!’ and she always responds with ‘this IS what a black woman sounds like!’
Basically! “American accent” is pretty much synonymous with “white”. If someone is not white, they should have an accent that reflects their ethnicity…otherwise, they’re not really their ethnicity. (Is how the thought process goes, that is.)
Random semi-related story:
My dad says something to the effect of “I don’t have a Chicago accent”.
I tell him back “But you’ve lived in or near Chicago your entire life, of COURSE you have a Chicago accent!”
“But I don’t sound like Mayor Daley…”
“YOU DON’T HAVE TO!”
THIS LAW STILL RUBS ME THE WRONG WAY
Someone help my brain work.
Sweden’s law on human trafficking basically makes it illegal for one to try and buy sexual services from a prostitute. It’s directly criminalizing the demand side of sex trade. (Which makes sense, I suppose, because rich Western countries rarely are the suppliers of human trafficking but rather the buyers.)
The thing is…all it seems to do is push the problem out of Sweden. “Out of sight, out of mind”. All you’re doing is making the traffickers choose a different country to sell people at. Is this really solving the problem? Aren’t you still left with a lot of people who are so desperate for money and a living wage, they’ll risk being taken to a foreign country?
And you’ve also got sex workers in Sweden who CAN’T MAKE MONEY. Maybe some of them are in the sex trade because of circumstance, not choice, then how are they to make money. And what of the ones who chose this?
Anyone wanna chime in on this?
Am I remembering the story wrong but didn’t the angel get the okay from Mary?
At least in Luke, he did. Luke is very explicit about how Mary wanted this child and raving to her husband about how blessed they were and so on.
And he also warns her beforehand, and abortion of some kind or another has existed for pretty much all of human history. So you could argue that the whole point of telling her, and especially of telling us that he told her, is so that her consent to it is unambiguous.
If Harry Potter was an anime.
How can someone stand behind abortion, when you have a life inside of you that God created for you? How can you say that this life isn’t worth it? If you can’t take care of the baby for whatever circumstances than there is always adoption available to couples who can’t conceive, but still want the joy of being parents. OPEN YOUR EYES! God has bigger plans for us all that we don’t even realize the picture.
As your picture proudly touts, the fetus is literally all you give a shit about. It doesn’t even show the face of the pregnant person.
Not to mention it’s completely ridiculous to pretend that this is the stage in a pregnancy where someone starts considering abortion. Hey, maybe they do need it this late and that’s absolutely fine but the overwhelming majority of abortions happen wayyyy before this point.
So whether or not you want to believe it, it’s not just a fetus floating harmlessly out of anyone’s life. It’s inside someone and it’s not as easy to deal with as you’re pretending.
Why can’t God have a plan for the pregnant person? It’s so insulting to say that people who can give birth are meant only to live through their offspring.
beyond just the logical arguments against the message this image is trying to present
oh my god that image brb barfing right now that is disgusting no fetus actually looks like that EW oh my god i feel so sullied right now where is that baby’s HEAD wtf why is this person’s stomach so large i don’t think that’s what a pregnancy looks like hold my hair while i barf god this just looks so wrongso is anyone else going to point out how this is not a fetus in the picture
and chances are that if someone is carrying a baby that looks like that they probably want it cause it can, yanno, live outside the uterus since it is clearly like a 6 month old ass baby
just sayin
also if this actually were some freakish fetus
it’s also upside down
You know what I wanna do sometime? I wanna make that graph in people.
Just, line up 100 pregnant women who are at the stages of their pregnancies shown in the chart and title it “this is what abortion actually looks like”. (Their faces would all be shown, of course.)
It would be about 95 women who aren’t showing at all, 4 who you can kind of tell are pregnant if you’re really searching for it, and only one at the very end who looks anything like the woman in the OP.
Who wants to start a bet?
Who wants to start a betting pool that the US is basically going to turn into The Handmaid’s Tale?
Someone get me out of here.
*sob*
I will totally bet against that. I am probably hopelessly naive here but I think eventually our politicians will stop being quite so horrible.
Though, maybe it’s not a good sign that I think that’s “hopelessly naive”.Aight so how much do you wanna bet?
…my faith in humanity.
